Industrial solar installation for East Lancashire engineering business

With high power usage costs, a solar installation helped Bright Engineering (Precision Products) Ltd recognise annual savings of 21 tonnes CO2 and a return on investment of just 7 years, 6 months.

Bright Engineering (Precision Products) Ltd is a UK-based precision engineering company serving a wide range of industries including aerospace, defence, avionics, power generation, medical and other scientific fields.

The company is based in Nelson in East Lancashire in the North West of England and supplies its machined components across the UK, Ireland and the United States.

Industrial Solar System

With high power usage costs and a commitment to reduce their carbon footprint, they approached Airis to look at an industrial solar installation.

Following a site survey and analysis of their ongoing electricity usage, a detailed proposal was supplied which included calculations for carbon reduction, payback time for the system, the averaged offset against their consumption and overall lifetime savings.

A total of 190 solar panels and two inverters were installed, recognising the following benefits:

Total System Size 87.4kW

Levelised Energy Cost £0.021 pkWh

Consumption Offset 37%

Annual Savings 21 Tonnes C02

Completed Installation

Carbon Reduction

The system will save the company and the environment 21 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Over the system’s lifetime, that’s equivalent to 596,621 car km avoided, 3,836 trees planted and 427 long haul flights avoided.
